I'm proud that I have a breadth of experience and knowledge to know how to make a true impact on the lives of our youth. As a first-generation American, raised by a single-mother, I've been fortunate to have the opportunity to develop vital strengths, characteristics, and skills to make an impact on the lives of so many young people.
As a clinically trained, licensed social worker, I'm naturally passionate about mental health. However, having worked in education K-12 and in a university, it became apparent to me that although there is a ton of focus on academics, there is a serious lack of focus on mental health and wellness with students. Experiencing it first-hand with students passing out, uncontrollably crying and more because they are focused so much on school and not on themselves, was the sign for me that something needs to change. From working in Los Angeles to Philadelphia to New Jersey, it is a constant. That is when I decided I would dedicate myself to ensuring mental health and wellness was critical to the education students receive.
